Courtyards / Mitte / Berlin
HeckmannhöfeDieser Beitrag ist auch verfügbar auf: Deutsch
Berlin is famous for its courtyards. Even if not all of them exude the old charm, or are open to the public, there are still some of Berlin’s most beautiful coutyards in Mitte to admire. A stroll around is the best way to explore them.
You can start the little tour at the Heckmannhöfen and then work your way slowly towards Hackescher Markt. In this first courtyard you can make a first stop at the small but great candy factory. With a little luck, you can watch the candy makers at their craft. If not you still have the opportunity to buy a small or larger bag of their sweets. They offer a great variety of candy that is made with love and craftsmanship. Small shops and cafés invite you to linger. If you then continue towards Hackescher Markt, you will pass several courtyards. Just explore and enjoy them. Each has its own charm. In the largest courtyard complex you can find the Chameleon Theater, where you can watch wonderful acrobatic shows.
In the courtyard of the house Schwarzberg next door you find great graffiti that draws in the tourists.
The lively Hackescher Markt is also worth a visit. This is where street musicians perform in the summer and many shops, restaurants and cafes are a great place to relax.
