food market in NeuköllnDieser Beitrag ist auch verfügbar auf: Deutsch
The market at Maybachufer is also known by locals as the Turkish market, because many of the vendors originate from Turkey and sell Turkish and oriental goods. It is one of the biggest markets in Berlin and offers a huge variety of different goods. The location right at the Maybachufer is quite beautiful and offers the possibility of taking a stroll before or after your visit.
The market takes place every Tuesday and Friday. Innumerable vendors are selling their goods. Fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as fabrics, flowers, fish and meat are on offer. Especially the oriental delicacies are popular. Ever since this market has become so popular there are now more and more food stalls, as well as vendors of organic food. When the weather is good you can also often find street musicians playing by the water front.
It is a lively place with lots of people squeezing through the aisles, inspecting the goods. Prices are moderate and you can bargain for a better price, particularly before closing time. If you want to feel the pulse of Berlin, come here. There is hardly any parking space, so it is best to arrive by public transport.
