Golgatha is a very nice beer garden in Viktoria Park in Berlin Kreuzberg. It first opened over 30 years ago and is still a very popular location for Berliners and visitors alike. People come here to enjoy the perks of a warm day.
Especially when evening comes, it can get pretty crowded. If you are looking for peace and quietude, you should consider coming here in the morning or early afternoon. Still the beer garden is very big and most of the times it is no problem to find a spot. They provide seating areas on two levels with rustic beer benches and tables. There are also some deck chairs but they are quickly taken.
In the mornings they provide breakfast. At lunchtime the big grill is fired up and they prepare tasty meat. There are also some vegetarian dishes and salads on offer. Everything is freshly prepared. The prices are moderate and the portions big. If you are just looking for something small to eat, you can have cake or ice cream. They have a large selection of beverages and if you fancy it, you can even have some nice cocktails.
The atmosphere is relaxed and lively. Friends meet and families gather together. It is not so much about seeing and being seen, but about being together. Golgatha is a really nice place with a lot of charm.
The music they play here is mostly pop. Sometimes live bands play music that is compatible with mass taste. There is enough space though to move somewhere without music.
