Schlachtensee / Lake / Berlin

Schlachtensee is one of the most beautiful lakes in Berlin. It is part of a string of lakes and is located in the Southwest of Berlin. It can be easily accessed by public transport. The lake is surrounded by beautiful forest (Grunewald) and even though you are still in Berlin, you can enjoy the beautiful surrounding nature. You can rent a boat here and row on the lake. A beer garden with a play area and a very good restaurant are located right by the water. A great place to take a break and enjoy the view. A trip to the lake is worthwhile throughout the year, because every season has its own charm.

There is a 5,8 kilometer long trail going around the lake. Especially on weekends families are coming here to go for a walk. It is also a great place for jogging.

During the summer season the lake shores are packed with people, because the lake is good for swimming. It is one of the cleanest lakes in Berlin. There are sunbathing areas with good access to the lake, even though the grounds can be slippery and you should be careful while entering the lake. If you crave a little more privacy you can look for your own little spot along the lake shore. This however means that entering the lake can be tricky, because of dense tree roots. Since the lake is pretty big, it only takes a couple of minutes of swimming and you have the tranquility you are looking for. Then you can enjoy the water, the sky and the sun. Since the lake is very nice and the transport connections are good, the lake shores can be packed with people.

Another lake, Krumme Lanke, is not far away.
