Krongut Bornstedt is part of the ensemble of famous palaces and gardens in Potsdam. It is a nice spot to take a rest if you are on a tour to explore the wonders of Potsdam´s cultural sites. It is just around 400 meters away from Sanssouci Palace, located at the small Bornstedter lake.

Formerly a manor was situated here, after that a brewery and distillery. After a fire in 1848 destroyed the old buildings, a new ensemble was built in the beautiful Italian style of that time, that is so typical for many historic buildings in Potsdam. It was then used by the royal family as one of their residences.

Again and again investors have tried to make Krongut Bornstedt appealing to the public, which worked sometimes better than other times. Currently it is mainly used for events such as weddings, but you can also find a very good bakery here. Sitting in the sunshine in the beautiful courtyard is one of the best ways to take a rest in Potsdam from your sightseeing. While sipping your drink or eating a snack you can enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this place. Here you find a quietude that seems impossible at the bustling Sanssouci Palace.
