This villa was once owned by the famous German painter Max Liebermann. His paintings are world famous. He is not only known for his many portraits but also for his beautiful garden paintings and colorful images of daily life which are bathed in light.

He bought the villa in 1909 as an escape from the hectic life in Berlin. It is beautifully located on the shore of Wannsee. Several of his paintings can be seen in a permanent exhibition inside the villa. Outside you can stroll through the wonderfully landscaped garden. Hundreds of flowers are blooming during the summer season and create a fantastic play of colors. It is easy to imagine Max Lieberman sitting in the garden and painting his wonderful works of art.

It is best to visit the villa and the garden during the summer season. The view out on Wannsee and the lovely garden are very beautiful. The paintings on display are not his most famous ones, but have a special appeal to them, since they hang in his old house. There are always special exhibitions to see, that change every few month.

There is also a nice café, which can unfortunately only be accessed with a ticket, the same goes for the garden.
